The Dance Teacher Summit is committed to promoting emerging choreographers who further the art of dance. The Capezio A.C.E.
Award Competition is a great opportunity for choreographers to expose their work to one of the most influential audiences
in dance.
- To enter to become a Finalist:
First make sure you meet the eligibility requirements:
- All entries can be ANY style of dance: tap, jazz, ballet, musical theater, tap, hip-hop, contemporary,
modern, etc.
- All entries must not exceed 6 minutes.
- Choreographers and dancers may be professional, amateur, or a combination thereof.
- There must be at least 5 dancers in the group and all dancers must be ages 16+.
- All entries may be entered by the choreographer NOT by a dance group that has hired the choreographer
to set the work.
- All performances must use music on CD.
- Performances may include props but no "sets.”

All entries must be available to compete at the Dance Teacher Summit in NYC, August 2-4, 2010.
- Upload your video to
DanceMedia.com on the Dance Teacher Summit Channel. Be sure to do so BEFORE April 1, 2010. Please Note: The piece you
enter with to become a Finalist, DOES need to be the same piece that you compete in NYC. It must however meet all the same
eligibility requirements. The video can be from a past performance and does not need to be specifically video-taped for
the Capezio A.C.E. Award Competition.
- Representatives from Dance Teacher magazine and Capezio will select and contact 9 Finalists
that will be invited to NYC to compete during the Dance Teacher Summit at the Hilton Hotel. One additional Finalist will
be selected by viewer’s choice on DanceMedia.com. Please note: All Finalists
and their dancers will be responsible for their own travel and lodging. Finalists and their dancers are able to book discounted
rooms under the Dance Teacher Summit room block at the Hilton NY. Each group is guaranteed a $500 stipend to help with expenses.
All Finalist choreographers will be able to attend the Dance Teacher Summit classes and events, free of charge. All Finalist
dancers will be given 4 free classes (separate from the Summit attendees) with a select few faculty members. All Finalists
(choreographers and dancers) will receive a $100 gift card from Capezio, year-long subscription to Dance Spirit magazine,
certificate of participation and a professionally edited video of their performance.
- At the Summit, one of the nightly events will be dedicated to the Finals Competition. A distinguished
panel of judges will select the winners of the three awards:

*Please note: The Dance Teacher Summit will be paying for rental of the theater, basic production elements (lighting, sound,
etc.), and promotion. The “production budget” is for the choreographer to use for any salaries, travel, props, costumes,
